Central Gas Heating
A central heating system is used to provide warmth to the interior parts of a building. Central heating is a term that specifically refers to a system that provides warmth to the entire house or any other building. People who require warm only for certain rooms of a house can opt for individual heating systems. There are different types of central heating systems that can be operated differently. Some of the common forms of heating systems include gas heaters, electric heaters, solar heaters and solid fuel heaters.
Gas heating system is the commonly used heating system because of its many advantages over other systems. Central gas heating system is much more efficient compared to other heating systems. Moreover, it causes less pollution compared to other heaters. In case of gas heating systems, it is estimated that the efficiency can be increased up to 90% with the help of condensing boiler systems.
Components
Some of the major components included in central gas heating system include boilers, circulating pipes, radiators, control valves, steam outlets and other pipe fittings. Boiler is the major component used in central gas heating system. It is the place where gas is burnt to produce heat. The circulating pipes are used to transfer heat to the entire system. Radiators, through which the heated water passes, are used to distribute heat into the rooms.
Working Process
Central gas heating systems use gas fuels like propane or LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). The supplied fuel is burnt in the furnace called boiler. The heat generated in the boiler is distributed into the system with the help of circulating pipes. Nowadays, water heating system is the widely used method compared to steam system. Water heating system uses heated water to pass through the circulatory pipes. This heated water passes through the radiators which are connected to the system. Heated water can be forced to pass through the circulatory pipes through air pressure. Radiators would distribute the generated heat into the rooms of a house.
Advantages
Central gas heating system is the widely used system in various countries. Central heating system can be used to heat only certain areas of a house through the process called zoning. Fuel storage is not necessary in case of the gas heaters as gas lines are directly accessible to houses. Efficiency level of gas heating system can be maximized by using condensing boilers.
